Freedom Leadership

Pastors & Staff

Scott & Stephanie Bodenhamer

lead Pastors

Scott and Stephanie have shared a lifelong friendship that began as teenagers while growing up in the same youth ministry, and getting married in 2003. Together, they have served in full-time ministry for more than 20 years, with much of that time devoted to investing in the next generation through youth ministry. Over the years, they have served in nearly every area of church ministry and have developed a deep passion for helping people grow closer to God and build authentic relationships with others. In 2019, they launched Freedom Church with a vision to create a church where people could encounter Jesus, find community, and discover their purpose. Leading and serving the Freedom Church family has become one of the greatest joys of their lives. Throughout the journey, they have been grateful to serve alongside their two children, Isabella and Zion, who have faithfully been part of ministry every step of the way.

Since 2023, Kohl has faithfully helped lead Freedom Youth while also serving on the leadership team at Freedom Church. He is known for his heart for people, his servant leadership, and his desire to build authentic relationships rooted in Christ.

Kohl is engaged to Abby Yarbrough, and together they are passionate followers of Jesus who are committed to serving others and investing in the lives of young people. Their heart is to lead by example and help others experience the hope, freedom, and purpose found in a relationship with Jesus.

My relationship with Jesus has spanned more than 20 years and, like many journeys of faith, it has included both strong seasons and difficult seasons. Through life experience and spiritual growth, I’ve learned that maturity in Christ comes through continually returning to Him and trusting His guidance. I’m grateful for the growth God has brought in my life and thankful for where He has me today.

I’ve been involved in worship ministry for more than 15 years, serving through both singing and playing multiple instruments on worship teams. Music has always been a major part of my life, and I love being able to use it to help lead people into the presence of God.

Some of the artists and bands that have influenced me over the years include Third Day, Kirk Franklin, Audio Adrenaline, Newsboys, Jars of Clay, Brandon Lake, and a variety of gospel music.

I gave my life to Jesus at 12 years old, and while my journey hasn’t always been perfect, the last few years have marked incredible spiritual growth and deeper faithfulness in my walk with Him. Through every season—both good and difficult—I’ve learned to recognize God’s faithfulness and allow Him to grow me through every circumstance. I’m thankful for how God continues to shape my life, and I’m passionate about helping others encounter Him through worship.

I’ve been involved in worship and church music for as long as I can remember. Before coming to Freedom, I served faithfully at my home church by singing on the praise team, participating in choir, leading children’s choir, and helping organize plays and special music productions. Music has always been one of the ways I’ve connected with God and served others throughout my adult life.

Some of the worship artists who inspire me most right now are Charity Gayle, Elevation Worship, Hope Darst, Brandon Lake, and Shane & Shane.

I made the decision to follow Jesus when I was 12, but like many people, my journey included seasons where my walk drifted and became more shaped by the world than by faith. Today, my relationship with God looks very different—He is my daily strength, my foundation, and the One I lean on more than ever, and my desire is to live in obedience to Him out of genuine love rather than obligation.

I’ve loved singing for as long as I can remember—even if it occasionally got me in trouble at the dinner table growing up. I began singing solos in church around the age of 14 with my grandma, Autrey, accompanying me on the piano. Even though I was very shy, I would spend weeks practicing before singing a new song. Before joining Freedom, most of my musical experience came through special music, church choir, and handbells, making this my first time consistently leading worship with a team.

Some of the artists who have influenced me over the years include Amy Grant, Hillary Scott, Kari Jobe, Elevation Worship, Brandon Lake, Casting Crowns, Tauren Wells, Josiah Queen, and Forrest Frank.
